How to Build and Operate A Router Lathe

The Completed Jig (cont)
I used a 1/2 lag bolt with head cut off for the centers.  It is important to drill the pilot hole along the center axis to reduce the vibration.

The Lag bolts turned in bronze bushing mounted in the end of lathe.  Bronze is a metal with "self lubricating" characteristics.  I also used a spray lubricant.  Because I had longer blanks than was necessary, I wasn't worried about staining.  I also placed a 1/2 in washer between the bushing and the leg blank to further reduce friction.
I used a 1/2 inch variable speed drill as the drive motor.  It was attached to a plate at the end using the same fastener for the end handle.  I didn't not secure the drill hard to allow a little slippage.
